Apply the UK Forestry Standard with confidence

  • September 15, 2026

The UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) is the recognised framework for sustainable forestry and woodland management across the UK. Understanding the Standard is an important part of professional practice, supporting informed planning, management and decision-making.

Whether you are developing woodland plans, advising clients, supporting forestry projects or involved in their delivery and management, having a clear understanding of UKFS can help you apply the Standard with confidence.

Build your UKFS knowledge

The fifth edition of UKFS provides the current framework for sustainable forestry and woodland management across the UK. For professionals working in the sector, keeping your knowledge up to date is an important part of continuing professional development.

The UKFS e-learning course on Silvestor provides a practical and engaging way to understand, apply and demonstrate your knowledge of the Standard.

The course offers:

  • Structured, practical learning focused on understanding and applying UKFS
  • Lantra accreditation
  • Certification on completion
  • A flexible online learning experience that allows you to build or refresh your knowledge at your own pace

Whether you are new to the UKFS or already work with the Standard regularly, the UKFS e-learning course provides an opportunity to strengthen your understanding and ensure your knowledge reflects the latest edition.

UKFS learning for wider professionals

The UKFS is relevant beyond those working directly in forestry. Planners, ecologists, land managers, estates professionals, contractors, policy teams and others can all influence decisions affecting trees and woodland.

UKFS for Non-Foresters provides a practical introduction to the UK Forestry Standard for those who need to understand the framework but do not require the full professional course.

For organisations, the two learning routes can also work together: forestry professionals can complete the full UKFS e-learning course, while wider colleagues can build their understanding through UKFS for Non-Foresters. This can help create a shared understanding of UKFS across the people involved in woodland projects and decisions.

Start building your UKFS knowledge

Understanding the UKFS is an important part of working with forestry and woodland. The online courses on Silvestor provide an accessible way to develop that knowledge and apply the Standard with confidence.
