The Forestry Commission is a Non-Ministerial Department sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) and overseen by the Forestry Commissioners. We are the government’s forestry and woodland experts, and our vison and purpose focus on tackling some of society’s biggest challenges with thriving trees, woodlands and forests.
We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring professional to lead our East & East Midlands Area Team to help us achieve our vision through delivering our business plan priority actions and influencing the strategies and plans of partner organisations. You will already be achieving success in your current operational leadership role, applying your significant experience of planning and delivering forestry and woodland or environmental land management priorities within a strategic framework. You will also have a proven track record of developing strategic partnerships plus relevant knowledge you can bring to support the forestry sector to expand.
With strong stakeholder management skills, you will understand the nuances of working with both public and private sector partners with the ability to bring the best out of your team, delivering consistently high performance within budget and to exacting standards.
It is essential that candidates have a professional qualification, or extensive relevant experience in forestry, a discipline concerning land-based enterprise or environmental management. We offer a blended way of working, although your presence will be required at our main operational offices, meeting partners and agents in person and there will be travel to forestry and woodland sites throughout the area.
