The role
This role is to support the forest operations team deliver their respective programmes. You will be working alongside the Officers, Senior Officers and Team Leader to contribute to the sustainable management of Natural Resources Wales land.
You will plan and deliver programmes, within at least one of the following disciplines. (dependent on the scale of geographic programmes).
Deliver tactical work programmes and or collate forest and conservation inventory information, maintaining the GIS data, carry out site evaluation, in the delivery of operational programmes.
Forest Operations management, including technical advice, programme development and implementation of monitoring, reporting, and ensuring statutory compliance.
You will act as the contract supervisor for numerous forestry operations. During this, you’ll be responsible for undertaking all necessary site checks and subsequent paperwork for these contracts, including relevant liaison with the customer/contractor. Examples of these operations are harvesting, ground preparation, planting, or miscellaneous chainsaw work.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.
Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills
- Experience of working in land management disciplines including managing contractors
- Knowledge of sustainable forest management, UKWAS and forest certification schemes
- Knowledge of forest planning and forest operations
- Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable.
