Fasque Forestry is a family-run leading provider of sustainable forest management services based in Fettercairn, Scotland. We specialise in all aspects of the forest management process from harvesting, processing and marketing timber to restocking and establishing new woodland. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Harvesting Manager to join our team and oversee the planning and execution of harvesting operations across our client estates.

Key Tasks

The Harvesting Manager will be responsible for:

• Managing Fasque Forestry’s timber purchasing, marketing and harvesting operations
• Coordinating a small fleet of harvesting machinery and lorries
• Working closely with clients, customers and contractors and provide a value added service
• Ensuring smooth and efficient operations of our harvesting processes onsite
• Developing and implementing harvesting plans in accordance with our Forest Management objectives, UKFS, FSC Chain of Custody, environmental standards, health and safety regulations and contractual obligations
• Building and maintaining client relationships
• Bidding and tendering
• Management of harvesting equipment, crew, and coordination of harvesting with necessary parties
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant forestry regulations and developing and improving harvesting techniques to promote efficiency

• Salary dependent on experience

Qualifications

• Candidates should be chartered or working towards chartered status
• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in forestry or related field
• Extensive knowledge of harvesting equipment and techniques
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Experience with regulatory compliance in forestry, including safety regulations and environmental regulations
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related field
• Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the forestry team and clients
• Knowledge of round timber markets, log prices and specifications
