Job description

EGGER Forestry Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of EGGER UK, is an industry leading company focused on the safe, efficient and sustainable procurement of timber. Our team specialise in purchasing timber for our UK plants as well as supplying our sector partners. EGGER UK manufactures the highest quality panel board and our timber purchasing activity reflects this emphasis on quality. We work across sensitive landscapes providing exceptional results for forest owners and we have a vacancy for a talented individual to join our team.

Based in the Greater Glasgow area or further west, you will support the Area Harvesting Managers in procuring standing and roadside timber. You will oversee supply chain operations, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of timber to the appropriate markets. Your geographical remit will cover Argyll, Cowal & Trossachs, and the wider Central Belt (both north and south). Some experience in timber harvesting operations is essential

Your tasks

  • Promote a high level of health and safety awareness and environmental practice
  • Develop excellence in the areas of timber harvesting, valuation and marketing
  • Contribute to project activities, taking a lead where appropriate
  • Meet both financial and production based budgetary targets and assist with the continuous improvement of the Company
  • Assist Area Harvesting Managers in South Scotland and North England in timber measurement, valuation, supervision of timber harvesting sites, contract management, budgeting, document compilation and maintenance of records and carry out other duties that may arise
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Health and Safety best practice, UK Forest Standard, Forest Certification and ISO management systems and assist in their application to our business
  • Respond to enquiries and incidents in a professional manner, look for solutions

 

Our requirements

  • Either a recognised forestry qualification with a minimum of one year vocational experience or relevant practical experience within forestry harvesting
  • Chartered status or working towards membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters
  • Full UK Driving License is essential
  • Must be well organised, efficient, personable and have a good confident telephone manner
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with diverse stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are important
  • Able to develop and build upon working relationships with internal and external stakeholders confidently
  • High standard of IT skills and competent use of  Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel Outlook)
