The Job responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of a new long term management plan, felling licences, maintenance of FSC and other certifications, H&S and record keeping
- Maintenance and improvement of the estate’s woodlands
- Harvesting and sale of hardwoods
- Management of a team of ten or more contractors and responsibility of ensuring supply of timber into the estate’s chestnut fencing business
- Liaising with other woodland owners and purchasing standing timber and managing harvesting external to the estate
- Sourcing and managing supplies into the estate’s heating grade woodchip business
- Management of a chestnut seed orchard
The successful candidate will be able to combine a commercial focus with an interest in sustainable woodland management, conservation and the natural world and will ideally have some experience of coppice management.
