Scottish Forestry is looking for an Operations Manager to lead our South East Scotland Area Team.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team to deliver ambitious woodland creation targets in South East Scotland, while at the same time ensuring that forestry regulations, including felling permission and statutory plant health notice are correctly managed.
You will lead a team of 4 woodland officers to deliver the highest standards of sustainable forest management, while inspiring and motivating the team.
You’ll also serve as part of the Conservancy leadership team, providing reassuring and supportive guidance and management across the whole of the Conservancy.
What you will do
As the Ops Manager for the East Area team, you will lead delivery of targets and standards for our grants and regulations work. You’ll work with the Senior Ops Manager, National Office colleagues and the Tree Health Team to advance effective and successful delivery of challenging but attainable woodland creation targets, regulatory work including felling permissions, illegal felling investigations and Environmental Impact Assessment screening opinions and consent and successful compliance with statutory plant health notices.
At the same time, you’ll work as part of the Conservancy leadership team to develop, support inspire, motivate and mentor both your own and the wider Conservancy team providing insight and knowledge around land use and management. You’ll help the Senior Operations Manager and Office Manger to ensure that our team feels supported in times of challenge by others, creating an atmosphere where the team understand that there is a substantial support network to call on.
