Job description

Your New Role

Galbraith has a focused forestry team providing advice across some 30,000 hectares of privately owned woodland and forestry from farm and estate woodlands to large productive forests and property with a focus on biodiversity and carbon.  We deliver woodland creation schemes of all types up and down the country, ranging from small amenity woods to upland plantations and landscape scale native woodland schemes.  We work closely with the rural team including natural capital, agency and valuation colleagues on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Forest Manager to join our team in Inverness. The purpose of the role will be to lead the team to assist with our growing portfolio of clients across north and west Scotland with opportunities to take responsibility and ownership for a varied client workload.

In this role, you will be included in many aspects of forestry including organising and supervising forestry and woodland contract operations using independent contractors, harvesting operations, woodland creation, restocking and woodland maintenance operations. You will also be responsible for securing necessary consents and appropriate grants, and woodland assessment, mapping preparation of reports and long-term plans.

About You

You will have a sound knowledge base around woodland and forestry in Scotland and ideally hold professional ICF membership.  A good working knowledge of FGS and UK Forestry Standard is essential. You must have strong IT skills, specifically in GIS applications in forestry. Excellent communication with colleagues, clients, contractors and stakeholders is essential. Importantly, you will be able to work accurately and efficiently with a focus on delivery and a pro-active approach to solving problems. An ability to demonstrate being a team player and leader will be key.

A full UK Driving Licence is essential.

What We Offer

In return, we offer a competitive salary along with our perks & benefits package which includes enhanced holidays, company pension, employee assistance programme, perkbox, flexible working, cycle to work scheme, car salary sacrifice scheme, life insurance and employee referral scheme.  Appropriate ongoing training is actively encouraged to develop knowledge, skills, and new areas of interest.
