Forestry England is the largest land manager and custodian of the nation’s public forests. We have around 1,000 committed staff looking after more land and more trees than any other organisation. It’s a job that never stops growing.
We are looking for an experienced Beat Manager to manage our forestry operations in the Chiddingfold area, Surrey and South Downs area, West Sussex & Hants. Both areas have mixed woodlands that are actively managed for people, nature and the economy including timber production.
As Beat Manager, you’ll use your extensive knowledge in forestry and land management to lead our safe and sustainable forestry operations and ensure we fulfill out supply contracts to our sawmill customers. With excellent people skills, you’ll also manage, motivate and inspire a small team of staff to ensure we deliver our forestry work safely and to a high standard. You’ll also be confident working with a range of external stakeholders including visitors, contractors, local authorities, national parks and environmental organisations.
This is an exciting time to join the South Forest District as we look to secure and grow our economic, social and natural capital of our forests. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has excellent organisational, communications and IT skills and works well under pressure.
Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable. In return, we offer an attractive salary and benefits package including a generous government pension scheme and flexible working. We also provide excellent personal and career development opportunities.
