Job description

Land and Heritage are keen to recruit a Forest/Woodland Manager to assist with all work areas related to woodland creation and the management of existing woodlands for our diverse client base.

Our team have been involved in woodland management and woodland creation in Devon and Cornwall for over thirty-five years, acting as forestry consultants for a wide range of landowners in both public, voluntary and private sectors. Our woodland management has always had a strong conservation and recreation focus, and we can also bring commercial forestry to the table when required.

Land and Heritage has a multi-disciplinary team of ecologists, landscape architects, arboriculturalists and heritage experts. We currently operate hybrid working arrangements with staff working from home as well as from our office base at Menheniot near Liskeard.

Our Woodland Consultant/Manager will be expected to be able to:

  • Possess sound Silvicultural management skills relating to rural estate forestry
  • Design and implement new woodland creation projects EWCO applications and CS applications
  • Preparation of management plans for existing woodlands
  • Competent in all aspects of woodland survey and timber mensuration
  • Generation and administration of woodland grant schemes
  • Supervision of sub-contractors
  • Experience of working in partnership with statutory agencies and local authorities
  • Experience of working within protected landscapes and sites supporting protected species
  • Competent in QGIS mapping or similar

Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or other relevant professional body is desirable.  Time is provided for CPD and agreed training provision.
