Presented at our National Conference 2026 in Newport, Justin Mumford FICFor CEnv has been awarded the Institute’s highest award, The Institute’s Medal, recognising more than 25 years of sustained professional excellence, leadership and service to forestry and arboriculture.
As Director of Forestry, Arboriculture and Ecology at Nicholsons, Justin has led a respected forestry division delivering woodland creation, silviculture and continuous cover forestry across the UK. He has held senior sector roles including Chair of the CLA Forestry Committee, Director of the Forest Canopy Foundation and member of the England Forest Industries Leadership Group. He has also contributed to national policy, providing evidence to the UK Parliament Environmental Audit Committee on sustainable timber and deforestation.
Justin is a trusted mentor who actively supports early career foresters and strengthens the profession’s talent pipeline, while actively contributing to Institute Special Interest Groups, advancing CPD and supporting professionalism across the membership.
