Chartered Environmentalist

The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is the Royal Chartered body responsible for the registration of environmental professionals – 10,000 have registered to date and new registrants are continuing to join year-on-year. If you apply evidenced-based environmental and sustainable thinking in your role, SocEnv registration will allow you to prove this and identify yourself as an environmental professional.

SocEnv are responsible for the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) registers, and since 2004 have established a sound platform as the body tasked with championing and registering the expertise of environmental professionals. Working as a partnership with 24 Licensed Member organisations, they ensure the quality, relevance and awareness of registrations

Become a Chartered Environmentalist

As an umbrella organisation, SocEnv does not directly award the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) registration to individuals. Instead, it licenses professional bodies (including the Institute of Chartered Foresters) to award the registration to appropriately experienced and knowledgeable members.

We’re delighted that now all Associate members, Professional Members and Fellows of the Institute are eligible to apply for Chartered Environmentalist registration – you are no longer required to be chartered with the Institute first.
